Structure and content
You can choose an area of specialisation on either our design or buisness programmes.

As an exchange student, you will enrol in one of our full degree programmes taught in English. You will be joining a class consisting of both international and Danish students. 

You choose an area of specialisation on either our design or business programmes. As a result, you get to study the subject area you are most interested in. You will join the fifth semester (Autumn) or sixth semester (Spring) on one of the following programmes: 

Branding & Marketing Management 

You learn to develop, plan, implement and evaluate marketing initiatives in a broad sense, both nationally and internationally. In this context, you can identify, analyse and present data, trends and currents in areas related to marketing and branding.

Fashion Design 

Get a profound knowledge of trends, sociology, idea generation and theory of science that enables you to work with the design process in an experimenting and creative manner.

Pattern Design 

Learn to work out complex solutions for pattern designing and grading, and to balance the aes-thetic with the functional. Achieve skills in estimating the usability of the materials and silhouettes in relation to the sketches of the fashion designer.

Purchasing Management 

Learn to supervise and keep track of processes and projects that can ensure the optimisation of the purchasing function. Work with product and supplier development, negotiation and sourcing, and learn about the different materials.

Retail Design 

Gain skills so that you can carry out and lead the process from brief to outline and provide a com-plete solution for the entire store's visual expression.

Retail Management 

Learn to develop and manage shops within the fashion and lifestyle sector, and get a profound knowledge of how to supervise and motivate staff. Gain insight into developing and optimising store concepts.

Evaluation and exams 

There will be projects during the semester that you will have to complete, as well as continuous evaluations. 

Enrolment
We expect you to have completed one year of study at your home university before you apply for our exchange programme.

VIA Design expects international students who apply to take part of their degree course with us to have completed at least one year of study at their home university. 

When your home university has nominated you for exchange at VIA Design, we will send you further information and a link to our online application system. 

If you are applying for Fashion Design as well as Pattern Design, please be ready to send a portfolio to us showing your previous work when requested by e-mail to do so.

Language requirements 

If you would like to study at one of our exchange programmes at VIA Design, you must be able to speak and write English well. You must be able to understand spoken English when following courses and be able to write assignments and reports in English.

Before you apply, you must be nominated by your home university.

When your home university has nominated you for exchange at VIA Design, we will send you further information and a link to our online application system. 

If you are applying for Fashion Design or Pattern Design, please be ready to send a portfolio to us showing your previous work when requested by e-mail to do so.

  • 1 May - Autumn semester
  • 1 November – Spring semester
Fees and tuition
Most exchange students do not pay tuition fees.

Exchange students pay no tuition fee if they come from institutions which have signed a Bilateral Agreement on the exchange of students with VIA University College.
