Exchange students must have a total of at least 30 ECTS per semester.
As an exchange student, you may choose courses from our International Course Catalogue from the link below. Courses have been arranged in course area order:
See the course catalogue - Civil Engineering Exchange (in English).
You must have a total of at least 30 ECTS credits per semester (a maximum of 35 ECTS credits). A typical exchange student programme consists of 3-4 courses and a project of between 5 and 15 ECTS credits.
We recommend that you also take a course in English unless you are a native English speaker. English is taught on various levels, and all exchange students will be tested and placed in the appropriate course.
If you can’t find a course with the subject matter you want, please contact our International coordinators Katrine Steenbach at katr@via.dk (academic contents) or Hanne Miller at hami@via.dk (application procedure). They will help you find the right course combination to fit your individual profile.
Project work
We recommend that all exchange students do a project. Project work is a way of incorporating real-life contexts into the study programmes. Typically, students work in teams of 2-4 on a problem that they would like to analyse and solve - sometimes in cooperation with a company.
Staff from the faculties will assist students in forming teams and finding possible ideas for projects. All teams will be assigned one or more supervisors. These supervisors will guide students through their project work.
Evaluation and exams
Your learning outcome will be assessed through in-course assignments, tests, presentations and examinations.
Assessments are based on the following types of examinations:
- Written or oral examinations
- In-class tests
- Oral examination with a project report, and an oral group presentation as the basis of an individual exami-nation
- Approval of participation in tuition activities according to criteria stipulated in the course description
- Combinations of the above.
Examinations are organized as individual tests assessed by external or internal examiners. For external ex-aminations, an external examiner appointed by the Danish Ministry of Education will be called in. For internal examinations, the assessment will be done by lecturers appointed by VIA University College.
More information about examinations is contained in the course description.
