Our faculties and schools

VIA Faculty of Continuing Education
We work with public and private companies on skills development for employees and managers.

The faculty offers diploma programmes, tailor-made courses, project and consultancy work in areas such as health, education, social sciences and management. 

We are a preferred educational partner in the Central Denmark Region with more than 20,000 yearly participants for our activities. 

Matching the needs of employers 

We work closely with employers to match their needs for professional development. Our courses and training are offered in Danish and English. 

We develop and apply new knowledge

We carry out research in a number of fields. Our goal is to help develop new solutions to the challenges facing public and private professions in Denmark and around the world. 

We take care of our international guests

For international participants, we offer complete course packages that include accommodation, social events and guided excursions in Denmark and Europe. 

Diploma in project management 

Our international diploma in project management is targeted project managers who work with international projects, stakeholders and intercultural teams. 

The diploma is a flexible, part-time (60 ECTS) programme – at a bachelor’s degree level.

VIA Faculty of Education and Social Studies
We offer bachelor-degree programmes in education, social education and administration. Our programmes build on Danish traditions and values.

The faculty is Denmark’s largest educator of teachers and social educators. Our candidates work in pre-schools, primary and secondary schools as well as with administration and social education.

We educate professionals to work in modern welfare professions, including how to cooperate with other professions to carry out high quality service and innovation.

We develop and use new knowledge

We carry out research on professional practice, working closely with employers, universities and partners in developing new knowledge. 

International perspective

We have a global perspective on education. We exchange teachers and students and carry out international research and development. 

Furthermore, we offer consultancy services and skills training to support clients and partners in training staff and manage institutional change.

Student exchange

Our students typically study abroad for a semester. They can also get internships lasting from 6 weeks to a semester. 

We are currently building a short exchange programme, where students can go abroad from two to six weeks. 

Faculty exchange

Traditionally, our teachers go for week-long stays abroad at a partner institution. 

We are working to develop a programme where VIA's teachers can be assigned to a partner university for a longer time, such as a semester. 

International study environment

Several of our educational programmes have international semester programmes in English. Both Danish and foreign students participate in these programmes. 

We also offer customised programmes, such as practical training - often from 2 to 8 weeks. 

We also invite foreign guest teachers to Denmark.

VIA Faculty of Health Sciences
We educate highly skilled professionals for the future of healthcare.

We offer eight bachelor-degree programmes in health sciences, such as nursing, nutrition and occupational therapy.

We have a global outlook 

We encourage students and faculty to cultivate a global outlook. We do so by cooperating closely with academic and healthcare institutions around the world. 

VIA is part of a network of prestigious educational institutions in Asia, Australia, and Europe. 

Export of knowhow

We offer tailormade educational modules for healthcare professionals and decision-makers. The content of our modules builds on our bachelor's degree programmes. 

Modules include:

  • Theory and models from Danish healthcare services
  • Basic modules in professional skills
  • Modules about specific health problems experienced by older citizen, such as dementia and nutrition.

Summer school in Denmark

Each year, we proudly welcome students from around the world for our international Health Summer school. 

The summer school is designed for both Danish and international students. Recent subjects include welfare technology and dementia.

VIA School of Business, Technology and Creative Industries
We educate students for careers in technology, creativity and business acumen.

We educate professionals for private industries through a range of AP and BA programmes: from business, engineering, construction and technology to design, film, transmedia and animation. 

Our programmes combine creativity, business knowledge, technical and personal skills to prepare students for careers in private companies.

National and global cooperation

We develop our programmes in cooperation with Danish and international companies and invite educators from the industry to teach our students.

Many of our programmes are taught in English - and almost half of our students are international. 

We cooperate with a range of recognised educational institutes in countries such as China, Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Spain, Hungary, Poland, Germany and the USA. 

Our partnerships provide excellent opportunities for student and staff exchange, research activities, double degree programmes and summer schools.

We help find solutions through research and development

We carry out research in cooperation with industry partners in areas such as climate and energy resilience, business globalisation, design and transmedia.

Research centre in China

In collaboration with the municipalities of Horsens, Hedensted and Chengdu as well as the EU project innovation centre, we have a centre for environmental research in Chengdu. 

Here, we hope to develop solutions to global challenges within energy and the environment.
